Founder's Background
My experience and background gave me the opportunity to develop a wide network of investors (institutional and private), policy makers and regulators.
Over the last few years, I have run my own practice where I provided asset management advice to pension funds, family offices and high net worth individuals. I also provided Outsourced Chief Investment Officer services to small-sized institutional investors and family offices.
Previous to this, I spent over a decade as a senior executive at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), one of the largest institutional investors in the world. Our small team filled the Chief Investment Officer role for the organization. I took an active part in setting the investment strategy and building and managing the institution’s strategic and tactical portfolios. I also served as a Chief Economist, Head of Private Markets and Head of Infrastructure Strategy.
I started my asset management career in 2001 at Elliott & Page, a Manulife Financial Company in Toronto, Canada. After building an asset management process and successfully overseeing its launch, I managed a portfolio of over US $30b and achieved consistent top quartile rankings. I was also responsible for strategic and tactical asset allocation and new product development.
It was the good performance in managing the portfolios in Toronto that led ADIA to recruit me. It is well know that the middle east big institutions try to bring in high performers.
I taught Finance and Economics courses at several Canadian universities. I presented in numerous international conferences and published in peer reviewed scientific journals.
I pursued my university studies in Canada where I obtained a Ph.D. in economics (focus on econometrics and financial economics). I also hold a master’s in economics (international trade and game theory) and bachelor’s in economics. I am a CFA charter holder and a Derivatives Markets Specialist (DMS designation awarded by the Canadian Securities Institute).
